How much Spotify paid me for 1 million streams

A lot of people might be wondering how much Spotify actually pays artists.

Well now I’m going to tell how much exactly Spotify paid me for 1 million streams.

How much Spotify paid me for 1 million streams

If you didn’t know already, I’m producing electronic music under the artists name DJVI. I’ve been producing music since 2009.

Between June 2019 and August 2019, my tracks got total of 1,042,064 streams on Spotify.

My total earnings for these streams was 2,647.33$. So there you have it!

I’m using TuneCore to distribute most of my tracks to Spotify. TuneCore does not take a cut of the revenue, so that number is my total earnings from the million streams.

This means that Spotify paid me 0,00254$ per stream. That’s actually a pretty low number. Many artists have reported they have gained almost double the amount per streams.

Here’s recap of the streams:

  • Total streams: 1,042,064
  • Total revenue: 2,647.33$
  • Payout per stream: 0,00254$

Is Spotify worth it?

Currently the Spotify payout per stream is not very much much. For example, Apple Music and Deezer are paying about 50% more.

Spotify is paying so little that it’s hard for many artists to survive by just releasing new music. Some of the popular artists have taken down their tracks from Spotify to fight back. However, smaller artists can not do that, because they need all the revenue they can get.

There are other music streaming services, but they are not as big as Spotify. That’s why you just can’t ignore Spotify. Currently the best thing artists can do is to distribute their tracks anywhere they can.

My music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and many other streaming platforms.
